Chargé d’affaires, a.i. Indhira C. Bañares led officials of the Embassy of the Philippines in Prague in joining their counterparts from the embassies of Indonesia, Malaysia, Myanmar, Thailand and Vietnam to celebrate the 55th Founding Anniversary of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) at the Indonesian Residence in Prague on 09 August 2022. ASEAN Day 2022 celebrated the growing economy of the regional group and the strengthening cooperation of member states. According to the ASEAN Committee in Prague, the ASEAN will continue on a trajectory of growth as it enhances its trade and economic relationship with the European Union (EU) and with the Czech Republic, the current President of the Council of the EU. The event also celebrated the food and culture of the ASEAN member states. For the Philippines, folk songs Bahay Kubo, Paru-parong Bukid and Saan Ka Man Naroroon were performed before an appreciative audience of Czech government officials, diplomats from ASEAN’s dialogue partners, and business representatives. Kalderetang baka, ube ensaymada, and cassava cake were served to the guests. END.
