Ambassador Ombra T. Jainal joined his colleagues from the ASEAN Committee in Prague (ACP) in handing over the donation of food and hygiene products to the Czech Federation of Food Banks in Ričany u Prahy on Monday, 26 April 2021.

In her brief remarks, Indonesian Ambassador Kenssy Dwi Ekaningsih, Chair of the ACP, stated that the donation is a joint undertaking of the six embassies that comprise the ACP: the Philippines, Indonesia, Malaysia, Myanmar, Thailand and Vietnam. She said that especially during this difficult time, “it is the right time for any of us to share with the needy, to help ease their burden. For this purpose the ASEAN Committee in Prague is committed to share as it is also our responsibility as part of the Czech community.”

Ms. Veronika Lachova, CEO of the Czech Federation of Food Banks, expressed her gratitude and appreciation to the ACP for the donation which will be further distributed to their branches.

On 30 March 2021, Philippine Ambassador Ombra T. Jainal, as the Dean of the Asian Ambassadors Group in Prague, hosted the first virtual meet and greet of new and old Ambassadors. The meeting also discussed the upcoming activities of the Group for the current year.

In his remarks, Ambassador Jainal stated that under the current circumstances, the virtual meeting is the “best that we could do to enable us to get together while respecting measures against the further spread of COVID-19.”

Ambassadors from 15 Asian countries comprise the Asian Ambassadors Group: the Philippines, Malaysia, China, Iran, Indonesia, Pakistan, Afghanistan, South Korea, Kazakhstan, Vietnam, India, Japan, Mongolia, Myanmar, and Thailand. END.

Some 30 members of the Filipino community in the Czech Republic participated in the webinar on Mental Health: Resilience in the Time of COVID-19 Pandemic via Zoom videoconference on 27 March 2021.

Ambassador Ombra T. Jainal expressed his appreciation for the innate resilience of the Filipino community in the Czech Republic, and encouraged them to use the tools provided to them to not only survive difficult times, but also to thrive amidst the challenging conditions. He stated that “resilience is  not merely limited to the ability to recover from change, stress or misfortune, but also as a tool for creating or developing new perspectives and finding new sources that would enable a woman or man to live in a better state.”

Dr. Štěpán Vymětal, Forensic and Disaster Psychologist of the Ministry of the Interior of the Czech Republic, provided the participants with the necessary web-based resources and virtual assistance from both the Czech and Philippine Governments for assessing and maintaining mental well-being.

Members of the community were able to exchange views with the resource speaker on mental health during the open forum.
