09 January 2024 Prague  - Filipino Erasmus Mundus scholars  enrolled in Charles University  and the University of Chemistry and Technology called on Ambassador Eduardo Martin R. Meñez on 09 January 2024.    The students who are taking their Masteral Studies in various courses such as  Journalism, Media and Globalization and European Politics and Society at  Charles Universtiy  and  International Master in technology and Management for Circular Economy at the University of Chemistry and Technology updated Ambassador Meñez on their experiences as foreign students in the Czech Republic and shared their immediate plans after graduation.   Ambassador Meñez extended his offer of partnership with  the students in their future endeavours.   Mr. Armando Peñafuerte III and Mr. Jay-vee Marasigan Pangan, both Erasmus Mundus Journalism Master’s degree students at Charles  University produced a  video entitled “Why Rizal’s legacy is alive in Czechia” premiered during the Embassy’s celebration of the 127th anniversary of the  martyrdom of Dr. Jose Rizal held on 30 December 2023 on the Embassy premises.   The European Union (EU) grants  Erasmus Mundus  scholarships to  students at master's level all over the world, allowing them to pursue their MA and PhD studies in different universities across the EU.   Based on the embassy data, there’s an estimated 20 Filipino students enrolled in  different  universities taking up various courses  in the Czech Republic  END

 Ambassador Eduardo Martin R. Meñez, together with Minster and Consul General Indira C. Banares and Cultural Officer Georgina C. Omaga-Diaz participated in  the first-ever Philippine Day (Filipínský Den) celebration in Kadaň in the  Czech Republic held on 11 November 2023.  The event held at the Atelier Function Building in  Kadaň was organized by the Development Center for Foreigners (DCFF)  a non-profit organization subsidiary of the company MJM rodinná realitná a personnelná agentura, s.r.o, in cooperation with  Kadan Filipino Community in Czech Republic ( KFCC).  At present, Filipino community in Kadan is comprised mostly of the 180 Filipino workers employed by Agro Kadan S.R.O., a crop farming company based in Kadan.   In his remarks, Ambassador Meñez,  reminded the Filipino community  to maintain the excellent reputation Filipino workers have in the Czech Republic and encouraged them to empower themselves with basic knowledge about the culture of and best practices in the Czech Republic.   Ing. Radoslav Liška, General Manager of Agro Kadaň  s.r.o.  who was also present during the event, praised the  Filipino workers  for their  hard work and for being resilient in their duties. Mr. Liška  also mentioned that  Agro Kadan  s.r.o. plans to hire more Filipino workers  and expressed hope that other Czech Republic companies do so as well.    The event also showcased  Philippine culture through video presentations and performances.
