Marcos Jr. and Czech Prime Minister Petr Fiala at Malacañan Palace in Manila in early April 2023, wherein agriculture and food security was discussed as top priority for the Philippine Government, Ambassador Eduardo Martin R. Meñez met with Ms. Karolina Bartošová, Director for Trade and International Cooperation of the Czech Ministry of Agriculture, in Prague on 20 July 2023.  Minister and Consul General Indhira C. Bañares, Agriculture Attaché Kristine Yap, and Mr. Jan Holub joined the meeting.  In their meeting, the officials discussed specific investment opportunities in the agricultural and fisheries sectors; fresh and processed food and beverage for trade; and cooperation in building institutions and capacities.   They also discussed improving connectivity between the Philippines and the Czech Republic to facilitate and secure food supply chains.   Total agricultural trade between the Philippines and the Czech Republic was USD7.04 million in 2022.
The Philippine Embassy in Prague, together with all Philippine Government agencies with jurisdiction over or oversight of the Czech Republic, held its second planning conference, online and onsite, on 19 July 2023.  The conference was held to discuss the PH country-team’s programs, projects and activities in the Czech Republic following new realities: election of new presidents and governments in both the Philippines and the Czech Republic, recent geopolitical and economic developments, and strategies and priorities outlined in the Philippine Development Plan 2023-2028 and related documents.  The Philippine Defense and Armed Forces Office (Spain), Philippine Trade and Investment Center (Germany), Philippine Tourism Office (Germany), Philippine Agriculture Office (Belgium), Philippine Migrant Workers Office, and the Consulate General of the Philippines in Brno attended the conference.  The first virtual planning conference was held in 2022. END.
Ambassador Eduardo R. Meñez welcomed Ambassador Hong Youngki of the Republic of Korea at the Embassy of the Philippines on 13 July 2023.  Both officials discussed bilateral and regional political, economic and cultural cooperation in the Czech Republic. They also talked about security in the Indo-Pacific and the activities to enhance cooperation among the ASEAN, South Korea, and the Czech Republic in the region. END

Ambassador Eduardo R. Meñez called on the Honorable Marketa Pekarova Adamova, Speaker of the Chamber of Deputies of the Parliament of the Czech Republic, in Prague on 10 July 2023.  Both officials discussed strengthening bilateral relations between the Philippines and the Czech Republic, including issues related to migration and the status of women and gender development, particularly within the context of parliamentary work. They also discussed regional and international security issues.  In celebration of the 50th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the Philippines and the Czech Republic, both officials look forward to continued exchange of high-level visits to further deepen the bonds of friendship and expand the political and economic ties between the two countries.
